WAHOO – A break-in at an upstairs apartment in downtown Wahoo Saturday morning led to a short standoff and then an arrest.
Patrick Nissan was taken into custody and charged with burglary, possession of a weapon by a prohibited individual and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wahoo Police Chief Bruce Ferrell said law enforcement was contacted about 10:15 a.m. Saturday that an individual had kicked in a door to one of the upstairs apartments on the northwest corner of Fifth and Broadway streets.
Ferrell said Nissan appeared to be looking for somebody who he thought used to live there and had a knife.
“He barricaded up and officers talked to him for a short while, maybe 10 to 15 minutes,” he said. “He then agreed to come out without the knife.”
Ferrell said there were no injuries and thanked the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol and Wahoo Fire Department for their assistance in resolving the situation peacefully and quickly.
According to the police chief, Nissan is an individual that had already made himself known to law enforcement. There was no permanent address for him available, but he is formerly from Memphis.
