KEARNEY – AnnaLisa Estrela, agricultural education instructor at Ashland Greenwood Public Schools, was recognized as the 2019 Outstanding Teacher by the Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association (NAEA) at the NAEA Banquet held in Kearney on June 5 at the Nebraska Career Education Conference.
Award winners are nominated and selected by their peers. Outstanding teacher recognizes NAEA members who conduct the highest quality agricultural education programs in the state. The award recognizes leadership in civic, community, agriculture/ agribusiness and professional activities. Outstanding agricultural educators are innovators and catalysts for student success in agricultural education.
“I believe that FFA provides so many students with the self-esteem and leadership they will need in order to grow and mature in the world of agriculture,” Estrella said.
Estrela does this by promoting student leadership in the chapter, school and community. By securing grants she has been able to improve her program and instruction.
Estrella also has taken part in numerous professional development opportunities such as: Tri State SAE conference, DELTA, Southeast Dual Credit Welding Certification, NAEA Teacher Mentoring Program, Food and Nutrition Science Institute and served on the Agriculture Standards Revision Team.
Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association includes membership to the National Association of Agricultural Educators and is a professional organization consisting of 200 agricultural education instructors from across the state.
