Picturing Our History

Stir-Up entertainment

A group of Ashland men perform a skit during the 1953 Stir-Up celebration in Ashland. Pictured are (from left) Clarence Wills, Leland Hiatt, Bernie Dill, Joe Perryman and Carl Poggemeyer. The photo was taken by Forrest Raikes, who was often the official photographer for Stir-Up events. The Junior Woman’s Club produced a number of shows during Stir-Up. They were held at churches, school auditorium or in the hall above 1518 Silver Street, where the Junior Woman’s Club met for a few years. (Photo provided by the Ashland Historical Society)
