ASHLAND – The Ashland-Greenwood volleyball team got the season off to a great start with a four-set win over the sixth-ranked Waverly Vikings on the road on Aug. 28.

ASHLAND – The Ashland-Greenwood Bluejay football team improved to 2-0 on the season after rolling to a 25-3 win over Platteview in the 2018 home opener Aug. 31.

ASHLAND – The Ashland-Greenwood Bluejay softball team got the season off on the right foot with a 10-8 slugfest win over the Tekamah-Herman Tigers in Ashland on Aug. 16.
ASHLAND – Due to the fact that many of the Ashland Senior Legion baseball players also played on the Juniors team, the Seniors were able to play only 15 games this season.
ASHLAND – The Ashland American Legion Juniors had an outstanding finish to their season, finishing third at the Class B State Tournament, winning seven of their last 10 games and finishing with a 16-11 record.
CYCLONES TAKE SECOND: Piper Boggs of Greenwood and Devin Rodgerson of Ashland, along with their team the Lincoln Cyclones 14U, earned second place the Cavalry tournament in Wahoo in June. The team lost to Elkhorn Edge 14U in the championship game.
SPRINGFIELD – The Ashland Junior Legion baseball team qualified for the state tournament for the first time in 41 years with a great showing to finish the Area 2 Tournament in Springfield.
WAYNE – The Wayne Blue Devils recorded a 10-2 victory over the Ashland Bluejays in the first round of the Class B Junior State Tournament in Columbus on July 14.
ASHLAND – The weather was perfect Saturday morning as an energetic pack of runners and walkers took off for the 10th annual edition of The Brick House 5k Run/One- and Two-Mile Walk.

CRETE – The Ashland American Legion Juniors dropped three games last week, but ended the week with a come-from-behind win that snapped a four-game losing streak.
ASHLAND – The Ashland American Legion Senior baseball team used a six-run third inning to break open a tight game and defeat Lincoln Christian 8-0 in their season opener on May 24 at Den Hartog Field in Lincoln.
In last week’s issue, the Ashland-Greenwood 3200-meter relay team was misidentified. The story stated that the members of the All-Area second team 3200-meter relay team consisted of Sawyer Buller, Joe Burke, Justin Book and Nolan Kasuske.
WAHOO – Bishop Neumann senior Aspen Jansa capped an outstanding four-year career on the track with a stellar two-day performance at the 2018 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships.
FAIRBURY – The Ashland-Greenwood Bluejay track and field team will be sending three individuals to the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships at Omaha Burke High School on May 18-19.
OMAHA – The Platte Valley Patriot baseball team saw their season come to an end with an 8-5 loss at the hands of Guardian Angels Central Catholic in Omaha in the opening round of the Class B1 district tournament.
SPRINGFIELD – The Ashland-Greenwood track and field teams traveled to Platteview High School in Springfield to take part in the annual Platteview Invitational on April 19.
