YUTAN – The City of Yutan hired a temporary city clerk as Yutan Mayor Darrin Egr continues to interview applicants for the position.
Egr said a special meeting was held last Friday and the resignation of former City Clerk Katy Mattheis was finalized.
He said Mattheis had informed the city of her decision in early December, providing them a full month to begin interviewing applicants.
“We really appreciated the extra time,” Egr said Monday.
But, the city has not yet been able to make a permanent hire.
At last week’s meeting, Egr recommended and the City Council accepted the fulltime appointment of Megan Schulz as temporary city clerk and treasurer.
Egr said over the course of the interviewing process, multiple people have approached the city council with interest in the job.
“There have been 20 to 30 applications. Everyone thinks it’s an easy job, but there’s a lot to it,” Egr said.
He said he believed it wouldn’t be long now until the new city clerk would be hired.
“Within the next couple of weeks, could be sooner or not,” Egr said.
