BRAINARD – A weekend is taking place in Brainard.
The Brainard Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department gets things started on Friday evening with the annual street dance in front of the fire hall starting at 9 p.m. Silas Creek will be playing until 1 a.m.
This is a fundraiser for the department, with proceeds going toward equipment and gear.
The Brainard Community Club had scheduled an Evening in the Park for Saturday. However, it was announced on Wednesday that this has been cancelled this year, due to lack of participants for the show.
But on Sunday, the 18th Annual Brainard Pride and Performance Car Show will fill the downtown with all sorts of eye candy for the auto enthusiasts.
Registration takes place from 9 a.m. until noon, with the show to follow until 4 p.m.
This event is sponsored by the Brainard Car Club. Registration is $15 or $20 the day of the show. There will be door prizes and dash plaques awarded. In addition to judge’s picks, there will also be a People’s Choice award.
“I think pretty much everything is ready to go. We have been doing it long enough now that it’s pretty routine. I was part of the group that got it started 18 years ago. It’s pretty hard to believe that we are getting close to 20 years doing this,” said Car Club Member Tyler Fortik.
