WAHOO – The Wahoo VFW Auxiliary wanted to make sure area law enforcement knew they were appreciated.

Last Thursday, Auxiliary Members Jean Mika and Iva Carlson visited both the Wahoo Police Department and Saunders County Sheriff’s Office.

Mika said the recent Law Enforcement Appreciation Week gave her the idea to show appreciation at the local level.

Mike baked up treats to share with both the Wahoo and Saunders County law enforcement officers. In addition to the sweets, the Auxiliary also donated $100 to each department.

Wahoo Police Chief Bruce Ferrell said the gesture was very much appreciated. The monetary to his department will be used for the D.A.R.E. program.

Saunders County Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz said it was an unexpected, but well appreciated offering. A committee will be tasked in his department to find a use with the monetary donation.
