Dwain LeRoy Anderson

CERESCO – Dwain (Howdy) LeRoy Anderson, 80, of Ceresco passed away in Wahoo June 11, 2019.

He was born Dec. 28, 1938 in Lincoln to Roy and Verlie (Engstrom) Anderson. He attended District 40 country school in Saunders County and graduated with the class of 1956 from Ceresco High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Ceresco. Dwain began a career in the grocery business with Safeway Stores in Lincoln. He was promoted several times and moved into management of his own store in Geneva. Later, he managed several stores in the Springfield, Mo. area for Affiliated Food Stores. Following the sudden death of his father, Dwain returned home to assume the responsibility of the family farm northwest of Ceresco. He farmed 1,100 acres, besides running a large hog operation, then later raising stock cattle. In 2006, he married Elaine Randolph and together they enjoyed 12 years of family and church events, plus extensive travel. Dwain especially enjoyed their trips to Alaska and to Africa.

He is survived by his wife Elaine; his sisters, Ruth (Richard) Edelman of Oswego, Ill. and Marilyn (Don) Tejral of Wahoo; four nieces and one nephew; four step-children and spouses; 15 step-grandchildren; 28 step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation and family greeting is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, June 14 at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 North 27th Street in Lincoln. Memorial service is 2 p.m., Saturday at Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege Street in Lincoln, with a prior private burial.
