COLUMBUS – The Bishop Neumann and Yutan boys golf teams competed on May 22 in the Nebraska Golf Championships.
The two-day tournament was cut down to one day after play across the entire state was cancelled due to cold, wind and rain on May 21.
Conditions improved slightly on May 22 and the teams were able to take to the course.
The Cavaliers played in Columbus at the Elks Country Club among the rest of the top players in Class B.
The Cavaliers ended up in fifth place as a team, after carding a team score of 341. North Platte won the Class B team title after firing a 326.
Sophomore Patrick Kenney and freshman Lauren Thiele signed for 84’s, good enough for a tie for 16th among the top Class B players in the state.
Sophomore Boston Pentico finished with a pair 43’s and ended up in a tie for 27th with an 86.
Other Neumann scores included junior Lindsey Thiele (87) and Noah Briley (91).
The Yutan Chieftains played at Meadowlark Hills in Kearney on May 22 and finished 12th overall in Class C with a team score of 378.
Sophomore Will Elgert finished in the medals for the Chieftains ending up in a tie for ninth with a team best 18-hole total of 81, which including a 39 on his opening nine holes.
Other Chieftain scores included sophomore Brady Timm (95), junior Joel Pleskac (99), junior Will Hays (103) and freshman Sam Petersen.
