OMAHA – Raymond Central athletes Grace Mueller and Rylee Haecker left Omaha with medals after competing in the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships on May 17 and 18.

Mueller, a sophomore, competed in a strong Class B long jump field on Friday afternoon and held her own while finishing fourth in the event with a mark of 17-6.5.

Mueller also qualified for the state meet in the triple jump, but did not fare as well on Saturday morning. Mueller ended up 13 in the event after finishing with a mark of 33-10.

Haecker took to the track on Saturday morning to compete in the Class B 800-meter run.

Haecker posted a season-best time of 2:24.64 while running in the first section. While she caught her breath, she waited to see how her time would stack up after the second section crossed the finish line.

Only five times were better in section two and the Mustang junior was able to leave with a sixth place medal.
