SCHUYLER – The Wahoo track and field teams traveled to Schuyler for the annual Fred Arnold Invitational on April 18.

Below average temperatures and windy conditions made competing a challenge, but the Wahoo athletes stepped up and turned in multiple season-best times.

The girls team finished runner-up in Schuyler with 109.5 points. Aquinas Catholic won the meet after scoring 151.5 points.

Wahoo scored 42.5 points in the field events and came away with two gold medals.

Sophomore Kelsie Sears captured her first gold medal of the season after winning the long jump (15-7.75).

Sophomore Toni Greenfield also captured gold at the meet after winning the triple jump with a mark of 34-4.

Sophomore Sara Lindgren finished runner-up in the discus after getting measured at 109-5.

Sophomore Kharissa Eddie added a silver medal in the high jump after clearing 4-8.

Senior Kylee Edmonds finished third in the pole vault with a height of 9-6.

Edmonds scored 10 points for the Warriors in the 100-meter dash after crossing the finish line with a time of 13.10 in the finals. She also finished fifth in the 200.

Junior Kendal Brigham won the 800-meter dash in Schuyler after completing two laps in 2:29.28.

In addition to her gold medal in the long jump, Sears added a runner-up finish on the track where she finished second in the 300-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 51.72.

All three Warrior relay teams posted season best times and all three teams ended up in second place.

The sprint relay team consisting of Brigham, Eddie, Edmonds and Sears posted a time of 52.72.

Greenfield, Sears, Brigham and sophomore Alyssa Luedtke combined to finish runner-up in the mile relay after posting a time of 4:26.

Sophomore Lauren Kavan, senior Jaci Schnakenberg, Luedtke and Brigham teamed up to finish second in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:28.

The boys team ended up fourth in the team standings with 64 points.

Forty-five of the points came in the field events.

Senior long jumper Austin Schneider left with a gold medal after winning the event with a jump of 20-3.25. Teammate Curtis Swahn finished third in the event (19-7.25).

Junior Luke Partridge won the discus event in Schuyler with a throw of 154-0.

Junior Brandon Swahn finished with a silver medal in the shot put, after coming through with a throw of 46-5.25.

Three Warrior high jumpers medaled at the meet, including junior Thomas Waido who ended up third in the event after clearing a season-best 5-8.

The best performance on the track was turned in by Wahoo’s sprint relay team. Schneider, Curtis Swahn, Sheldon Johnson and Partridge finished second at the meet after combining to run a season-best time of 46.66.

Junior Grant Crockett finished fourth in the two-mile run after completing eight laps in 10:53.
