OAKLAND - The Yutan Chieftain golf team competed at the Elmwood Murdock Invitational at Grandpa’s Woods on May 3.

Both the varsity and junior varsity teams competed at the event, where they brought home four individual medals and finished varsity runner-up behind Johnson County Central. 

In the varsity portion, Will Elgert posted a 72 for fourth playce, Brady Timm shot a 74 for fifth place, Will Hays carded a 78 for ninth place while Logan Moan finished with a 99, and Sam Petersen a 107, for a team score of 323.

Gage Kennedy was the lone medalist for the junior varsity, coming in 10th with a 106. Beau Heurtz and Carter Tichota posted personal bests of 108 and 110, and in their first 18 home event Lynn Smith and  Ally Frye posted matching scores of 134. 

On Saturday, the varsity was at the Oakland-Craig Invitational.

This year the meet was a low scoring affair and the team held their own against a very tough field. Will Elgert was the lone medalist at 12th with a team leading 81.

Joel Pleskac missed medaling after posting an 91, Brady Timm finished with a 92, Will hays a 93, and Sam Petersen posted a personal best 96.
