YUTAN – The Yutan Chieftain boys basketball team remained undefeated on the season after demolishing the Arlington Eagles at home on Dec. 4.
The Chieftains won 67-31 after outscoring the Eagles 52-20 over the final three quarters.
The Chieftains shot 50 percent from the field and connected on 12-of-17 from the free throw line.
They also controlled the paint while outrebounding the visitors 34-22.
Yutan came up with 15 steals against the Eagles and forced 26 turnovers.
Three different Chieftains finished in double-figure scoring for the home team led by junior Trey Knudsen and sophomore Brady Timm who finished with 13 points apiece.
Junior Colby Tichota filled up the stat sheet with 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Gavin Kube added eight points and seven rebounds against the Eagles.
Yutan looked to remain undefeated when they took to the road to take on Freeman in a battle for conference bragging rights on Dec. 7.
The game was a defensive battle from start to finish and the team’s needed an extra four minutes to determine a winner.
The game was tied at 35 at the end of regulation and it was the Falcons who outscored the Chieftains 6-4 in the overtime period.
The Chieftains led by five points heading into the fourth quarter, but the Falcons battled back to tie it up and send it into overtime.
Timm paced the Chieftains with 12 points to go along with five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Knudsen sank three 3-pointers and added 11 points.
Senior Jason Simon played well, finishing with six points, seven rebounds and three steals.
The loss dropped the Chieftain record to 3-1 on the year.
