BEATRICE – Sophomore Grace Mueller and junior Rylee Haecker both qualified for the 2019 Nebraska State Track and Field Championships after superb performances at the Class B-3 District Championship in Beatrice on May 9.

Mueller will compete in the long jump and triple jump events in Omaha. She won the long jump in Beatrice with a career-best mark of 17-7. Mueller will enter the state meet with the third best performance in the event in district competition.

She finished with a silver medal in Beatrice after finishing with a mark of 35-6.5 in the triple jump. The mark is the third best district mark heading into the state meet.

Mueller will be looking for her first state medal.

Haecker will be making her second consecutive appearance at the state meet after qualifying in the 800-meter run.

Haecker finished third at the district meet with a time of 2:29.34.

Haecker finished sixth in the event as a sophomore last season with a time of 2:26.34.

The boys’ team’s lone medal at the district meet was turned in by the sprint relay quartet of senior Eli Pickel, senior Chase Hall, senior Hayden Brock and freshman Conner Kreikemeier. The team finished sixth with a time of 47.49.
