CERESCO – It started out as a small way to raise a few dollars for a proposed splash pad in town.

The Ceresco Craft Fair is still raising dollars for the splash pad fund, but it is no longer a small event.

Event Organizer Sally Saf said this is the fourth year for the craft fair and it has grown every year.

“We started out with 13 (vendors) that first year and now we have almost 50,” she said.

This was the first year the event was held in the gymnasium of the elementary school in Ceresco. It has outgrown its previous venues of the community center and a church.

But, Saf said that is a good problem to have. She said as the number of vendors grows, so does the amount collected to give to the splash pad fund.

“This is great,” she added.

Right now, the group has a $150,000 goal to cover the cost of all the equipment as well as the construction of a splash pad. Various fundrasiers have been going on to raise those dollars. The goal is to have the splash pad built by 2020.

If all goes as planned, the splash pad would sit between the ballfield and the picnic shelters at the park and have eight to 12 water features.
