WAVERLY – The Waverly Community Foundation will be cooking up breakfast this Saturday.

The 16th Annual Community Breakfast will be at the Foundation’s Community Center, located at 11120 North 120th Street. Pancakes, French toast, eggs, ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice will be served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a free will donation.

Community Foundation Member Scott Bartels said all the proceeds from the breakfast will be used for general upkeep at not only the community center, but also at the Foundation’s park, tennis courts and baseball fields.

The money will help with maintenance and improvement projects at each of those facilities.

The annual breakfast usually gathers more than 300 people. Bartels said attendance varies from year to year and they have had as many as 600.

This year, the breakfast is being held little earlier than past years. He said the hope is that more people can attend as plating season has not started yet.
