SPRINGFIELD – The Raymond Central Mustangs finished third at the annual Platteview Invitational Tournament held near Springfield on Dec. 20.

Prior to competing in the Invitational, the Mustangs upped their dual record to 9-0 on the season with a pair of team wins over Centennial (60-21) and Cross County/Osceola (48-21) at a home triangular on Dec. 20.

The Mustangs scored 105 team points at the Platteview Tournament and were led by first place finishes from junior Mitch Albrecht, sophomore Logan Bryce, sophomore Conner Kreikemeier.

Albrecht won all three of his matches on Friday night, including a 15-4 major decision over Conner Rosedale of Seward in the 120-pound championship match up. The win moved Albrecht’s record to 16-0 on the season.

Bryce also remained undefeated on the season after pinning all three of his opponents. Bryce pinned Reed Bennett of Elkhorn Valley in the first period of the 132-pound match for first place. The win moved the sophomore’s record to 15-0 on the season.

Kreikemeier improved to 16-0 on the year with three more wins Friday night. He scored a 5-0 decision over Elliot Steinhoff of Platteview in the 152-pound first place match.

Sophomore Tucker Maxson finished 2-1 on Friday night with his only loss coming at the hands of Aurora’s Trevor Kluck in the 138-pound match for gold. Maxson’s record is 5-4.

Junior John Karpov added a third-place finish for the Mustangs. Karpov finished 3-1 on Friday night and scored a hard-fought 9-8 decision over Kolby Wessels of Aurora in the 160-pound match for third place. The win improved Karpov’s record to 13-2 on the year

Freshman Cameron Schulz (106) and junior Skyler Sterns (220) added fifth place medals at the meet.
